The Bank Walkers

The Bank Walkers played The AMP on the Fourth of July and gave an awesome performance. These guys have been playing around the Lake Martin area for years and have a sound that pleases us all. They play a mix of classic rock and roll and classic and outlaw country with a little jam thrown in for good measure. Yes, you’ll hear hits from Johnny Cash to the Allman Brothers. Don’t be late. The Bank Walkers start the show at 6pm.

Rexton Lee

Rexton Lee, from Alexander City, now calls Nashville home. Says Lee of himself, “I was the kid that was always joking around, being the center of attention, and singing to anyone who would listen.” At the age of 13, Rexton’s family experienced a devastating house fire. The family came out of it unscathed; however, nearly all of their belongings perished. The only item of Rexton’s to survive was the old guitar his brother had passed along to him, found hidden in his closet. With the help of some fellow musician classmates, he diligently practiced and taught himself to play. He would spend days, even weeks, just working on one song. The same thing, over and over again until he got it right. Then, it would be a brand new song learned the same way.

Rexton was a guest performer on a local television program called “The Front Porch,” where TV host, Kenny Dean saw promise. Dean called Rexton a few days later and set up a meeting with Bobby Randall, an original member of super group Sawyer Brown. After hearing Rexton’s songs, Randall agreed. He made it simple, “I can’t promise you a record deal, but I can put you in front of someone who could make it a possibility.” Soon after, Rexton met with the Vice President of Sony/BMG Entertainment, Renee Bell, after which he was offered an RCA Developmental deal. This prompted a meeting with the President of Sony/ATV Tree Publishing, Troy Tomlinson, and resulted in his first publishing deal as a new and upcoming artist. “It’s my dream coming true!” says Lee. Rexton Lee will be on stage around 7:15pm.

Here’s a little taste of Rexton Lee:

Ashton Shepherd

Ashton Shepherd is a sincere fan of country music from Coffeeville, AL. Shepherd has sung and written songs all her life. Says Shepherd, “I’m extremely grateful the Good Lord chose to bless me with a gift that has allowed me a career releasing two major records with MCA records with charted song success, major tours, television appearances and more. I’m also thankful for the knowledge I’ve gained in managing my own Pickin Shed Records for three years now. I’ve been fortunate to have found those I’ve met along my way who’ve helped take me where I dream.”

Shepherd continues talking not only about her career but her family as well, “I have two talented, beautiful children (James and Raden) and a wonderful, supportive husband, Roland. I released my first independent album on Pickin Shed Records, This Is America, in 2013.” Shepherd has many plans and dreams yet to fulfill if God so allows. She’s definitely on her journey, doing so now with her eyes wide open for opportunity and ready to share it with every person possible along the way.

Ashton Shepherd will take the stage around 8pm.

James Otto

There’s a certain chemistry that happens when a great vocalist collides with a hit song. Magic just explodes from the speakers, and the impact is undeniable. It’s a phenomenon James Otto knows well. His breakthrough hit, “Just Got Started Lovin’ You,” topped the country chart and was the Most Played Country Single of the Year in 2008. Otto’s bluesy, muscular voice and dynamic stage presence earned him the respect of the industry and the adoration of country music fans.

However, there’s more to life than chart success and constant touring. Real country music is fed by life experience, and Otto stepped away from the spotlight to focus on family and pour his life into a new season of songwriting. Otto has always had an uncanny ability to write songs that give voice to the hopes, dreams and simple desires of his audience. He spent most of his childhood in North Dakota on his grandparents’ 700-acre farm. Later, he moved to rural Alabama. James got a real taste of diversity, and never got too accustomed to one spot. Rural Alabama is where he first discovered country music. He had a very country upbringing which set the tone for who he is.

Otto’s star was on the rise. Sunset Man peaked at No. 2 on Billboard’s Top Country Albums chart, and Otto began earning a reputation as one of Nashville’s most compelling young songwriters. He co-wrote the Jamey Johnson hit “In Color,” which was nominated for a second Grammy and won both the Country Music Academy’s “Song of the Year” and the Academy of Country Music’s “Song of the Year” awards in 2008. Otto has also penned songs for John Anderson, Trace Adkins, Randy Owen and many others, including the Zac Brown Band hit “No Hurry.”

James Otto will close the night with some great stories told through his unique bluesy but mellow country sound.
