From the earliest days of the company, the Russell family has understood well its role in the community and has made giving back a cornerstone of its corporate culture and guiding philosophy. Evident in all of Russell Lands endeavors - whether through little league baseball sponsorships to city festivals to non-profit organizations - community involvement is paramount. The latest example of this is the donation of $25 million by Ben and Luanne Russell to the Birmingham's Children's Hospital Campus in support of the hospital's
"Keeping Promises" campaign to build a new facility there. With its anticipated opening in 2012, the new facility and campus will be renamed the Benjamin Russell Hospital for Children in honor of Mr. Russell's grandfather, whom the younger Russell describes as "the origin of all things Russell in Alabama."
