RXR Fest – Memorial Day Weekend

May 24, 2019 - May 25, 2019

RXR Fest just keeps getting better and better! This year we are excited to announce our outstanding line-up!

On Friday beginning at 6pm we welcome back to the stage, The Bank Walkers, five local guys who refuse to quit their day jobs! But, after nearly 8 years together, they’ve learned to cover – cover up for each other’s mistakes – and cover a fairly wide swath from Outlaw Country and Southern Rock to Folk and Classic Rock. Their music includes Tom Petty, The Stones, Lynyrd Skynyrd, Willie and Waylon, The Band, Grateful Dead, and of course, The Allman Brothers – and a whole lot more. And, they don’t take themselves too seriously!

Then at 8pm, from Bremen Georgia, one of the younger performers to ever grace our RXR Fest Stage, Andrew Weaver. Andrew at 16 was a contestant on American Idol and made it to Hollywood! More recently Andrew has been working with top music industry producers on both coasts. He was influenced at an early age by his father, a huge Beatles fan, and musician. Andrew has a great John Mayer vibe and sound… hang around Friday night for some Andrew Weaver! You won’t be disappointed!

On Saturday we kick the night off with the Tosha Hill Band! Tosha Hill is one of the most promising new artists from the Muscle Shoals area, she is unquestionably one of the more unique and untouched original talents that has been growing quietly in the beautiful community of Florence. The authenticity in her songwriting stands out from most, as her lyrics come from the heart and consistently resonate with her audience. There are no frills or clever production with Tosha. She shares her stories that reflect and conjure powerful images with a sense of timelessness.

The final band of the weekend has been together since the mid 70s. The Locust Fork Band was born in Tuscaloosa in 1974 and quickly became a staple in Alabama’s music scene.  Southern Rock was the key ingredient in the beginning.  In 1976, with the addition of 2 female singers, the music added the flavor of western swing, rhythm and blues and songs that featured 4-part harmonies.  Some of the personnel has changed throughout the years, but original members, Bill Marshall, Kent Peterson, Dwight Williams, Nida Threet and Rick Byrd maintain the sound of the Locust Fork Band.

Locust Fork offers an eclectic, diverse sound; a necessary quality for a band with such longevity. The variety of Southern Rock, Rhythm and Blues, and Western Swing music offers a little something for everyone.  Those musicians and groups that had the most influence on Locus Fork include The Allman Brothers, Marshall Tucker, The Band, Asleep at the Wheel, and Bob Dylan.

Come join us as Locust Fork closes out the weekend with some great Alabama grown music!
